DeMarcus Cousins Asks Two Reporters If They Want Him In Sacramento

DeMarcus Cousins is constantly being asked if he wants to remain a member of the Sacramento Kings. It’s a reasonable question given his often tumultuous relationship with the franchise, but I’m sure he gets damn tired of hearing it. After last night’s game against the Pistons, Cousins came up with a more entertaining…

That Was A Very Bad Night For The Knicks

It’s been more than 12 hours since the New York Knicks lost track of Derrick Rose, and at this point all we have to go on are reports from ESPN that he went back to Chicago to deal with a “family situation” after yesterday’s morning shoot around. Things are suddenly feeling very bleak in Madison Square Garden.

Warriors Blow 24-Point Lead; Draymond Green: "I'm Kind Of Thrilled That We Lost"

In the third quarter of last night’s game against the Grizzlies, Stephen Curry was on his way to scoring 40 points while getting some “M-V-P” chants from the crowd. Which was nice, because then it all went to shit and Curry’s efforts were for naught. With close to zero offense in the fourth quarter, the Warriors blew…

Atlanta Hawks GM Makes Joke About Angry Black Women At Fan Event

Before a game against the Miami Heat on Dec. 7, Atlanta Hawks general manager Wes Wilcox fielded questions from a group of about 200 season ticket holders and club members at a “Chalk Talk” event. As would be expected of any meeting of a group of diehard fans and a team executive, this one got slightly contentious,…

WNBA Players Looking To Get Out Of Turkish League After Terrorist Attacks

A big problem with the WNBA is that for many of the best players, it makes financial sense to not play in the league. Players make so much less money stateside than they do by participating in international leagues during the winter that the overseas leagues have started offering compensation to stars to sit out their…

Sorry, Zaza Pachulia Will Not Be An All-Star

The NBA released the first returns for All-Star Game voting earlier today, and in the West, Warriors role player Zaza Pachulia sits second among frontcourt players, behind only Kevin Durant. It’s an especially impressive feat because this year he was seemingly fueled only by love from his homeland, Georgia. Gone are…

The Blazers Are Bad And Tired Of Being Lectured By Festus Ezeli

Following last season’s surprise second-round playoff appearance, the Portland Trail Blazers are 15-21 and struggling badly. ESPN’s Chris Haynes has a good story examining the Blazers’ summer, and why they failed to sign any free agent of note, re-signed all their own players, gave way too much money to Evan Turner,…

Jae Crowder Didn't Appreciate Boston Fans Cheering For Gordon Hayward

During pregame introductions at last night’s Jazz-Celtics game, Jazz forward Gordon Hayward received a warm welcome from the Boston crowd. There are many things you could read into the crowd’s decision to cheer for Hayward, but the most obvious one is this: Hayward is a free agent next year, and Celtics fans would…

Kyrie Irving Buried The Warriors Again

Round one between the new-look Warriors and the defending champion Cavaliers went to Cleveland, 109-108, with the knockout blow once again delivered by Kyrie Irving, who drove Klay Thompson into the paint with four seconds left before spinning around and getting an improbable fadeaway jumper to just kiss off the inside of the rim.

George Karl: I Struggled Because My Players Didn't Have Good Dads

Longtime NBA head coach George Karl has written a book, titled Furious George, and in that book he partakes in the time-honored and always-wack tradition of coaches talking shit about players they used to coach. (Or so we are told by the New York Post, which got its hands on a copy of the book.)

DeMarcus Cousins Apologizes To Everyone Except The Sacramento Bee

A week after DeMarcus Cousins chewed out a Sacramento Bee columnist for writing about his brother—and three days after the Bee released video of the incident—the Kings center has reportedly been fined $50,000 by the NBA. He also released an apology heavy on public relations-speak:

Celebrate Nikola Jokić, The Big Boy Who Can Pass

We should revise our initial appraisal of Nikola Jokić: Denver’s second-year center can pass the ball, and deserves that reputation. Coach Mike Malone attributes the 21-year-old’s buttery playmaking to his past as a “fat point guard,” and though that chub has since been stretched thin over a 6-foot-10 frame, the skills remain: he posted 27 points, 15 rebounds, and 9 assists in last night’s win over the Mavericks. Here’s his slickest dish of the night, a no-look bounce pass to hit Gary Harris on a backdoor cut:

Kevin Garnett Playfully Roasting Craig Sager's Suits Will Never Not Be The Best

Craig Sager is most fondly remembered for his back-and-forth routine with Gregg Popovich, in which Sager would play the earnest sideline reporter and Popovich a sort of caricature of a surly coach who has no time for the manufactured pleasantries of a scheduled television interview. But for my money, Sager’s best foil was Kevin Garnett, who, over the years, would almost always end an interview with him by going in on whatever Willy Wonka-esque suit Sager happened to be wearing that night.
