He was very impressed with Drake Maye in the Holiday Bowl and is excited to see what he can do with new WR additions. Next, Joel ranked the Iowa Hawkeyes at No. 22. Joel discussed the Brian Ferentz situation where his offense has to score 25 points to stay on as the offensive coordinator. He stated that he is worried about the amount of pressure QB Cade McNamara will be under. At No. 25 he has the UCLA Bruins finishing out the list. Joel said he believes UCLA will be alright with new talent from the transfer portal and has trust in Chip Kelly. Then, he lists off the teams that just missed his top 25.

Joel is excited to see how QB Quinn Ewers will play this season after the taste of the elite play he showed against Alabama last season.

Although the Bulldogs haven’t named a starting quarterback, Joel has faith in Kirby Smart to make the right decision. The Ohio State Buckeyes land at No. 3. Joel assured that Ryan Day will make the right decision at quarterback and is excited to see the returning talent. The Alabama Crimson Tide are at No. 4. Joel points out that Alabama and Nick Saban would not have accepted a transfer if they were not comfortable with their quarterback options. Joel examined USC’s new additions on the defense and is excited to see what Lincoln Riley will do this season.
