Aaron Rodgers Was Playing Backyard Ball

Moments after Mason Crosby’s last-second field goal gave the Packers a 34-31 win over the Cowboys and a trip to the NFC championship game, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was asked about his season-saving completion to tight end Jared Cook. “It’s just kind of schoolyard at times, late in the game like that,” he said.

Last Night Was Probably Devin Hester's Swan Song

The Seattle Seahawks lost 36-20 to the Atlanta Falcons last night, but you can’t place any blame for the loss on Seahawks return man Devin Hester. His 50-yard kickoff return in the second quarter led to a field goal, and a few minutes later his 80-yard punt return was negated by a holding penalty. His 78-yard return…

The San Diego Chargers are on the cusp of officially moving to Los Angeles, bringing an end to a years-long breakup process that has understandably left Chargers fans with a bad taste in their mouths. That Last Alabama Drive Was Terrifying

More than any other team in sports, Alabama football feels the most futile to root against. Over and over, they’ve stamped out nascent comebacks with two well-timed turnovers or turned a 14-10 game into a 28-10 game in two minutes of work. These are the sorts of ways you can win games when you’re bigger and faster…

Odell Beckham Jr. Is Furious And Correct

You don’t need me to tell you that Odell Beckham Jr. spending last Monday on a boat with Justin Bieber and Trey Songz didn’t have anything to do with him dropping three passes in yesterday’s loss to the Packers. Even the New York tabloid press, to which a story like Beckham’s is red meat, hasn’t really been up to the…

Where Is Jim Irsay And What Is Going On With The Colts?

Colts head coach Chuck Pagano and GM Ryan Grigson have spent the last few seasons conspiring to waste Andrew Luck’s prime and turn their team into one of the saddest sacks in the sad-sack AFC South. It’s reasonable, then, that everyone was prepared to see some blood spilled after the season ended, but so far there has…

Chip Kelly Is Playing The Game

The NFL is lousy with head coaches who have been given multiple chances at running a team despite achieving little on-field success. A coach can fail, get fired, and still find himself patrolling a sideline within a year, and the best way to go about pulling off such a feat is to control one’s own narrative. This seems to be something that just-fired former 49ers head coach Chip Kelly understands.

Jed York Finally Ensures No Good Coach Will Work For Him Any Time Soon

It’s hard to believe that, not that long ago, the San Francisco 49ers were a good team with a good head coach. It’s been a disaster since owner Jed York shuffled off Jim Harbaugh in December of 2014, and yesterday’s dual firing of head coach Chip Kelly and general manager Trent Baalke has put the franchise near rock-bottom. I say “near” because as bad as things are now, there’s no reason to believe York can’t make them worse.
