NFL draft pick has a priceless story about finding out he got drafted by the 49ers while speaking to another team

New San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster had an interesting beginning to his NFL career, as he explained during his introductory press conference on Friday. According to Foster, by the time the 31st pick rolled around, the New Orleans Saints had called him, essentially welcoming him to the team because they were going to take him with the 32nd overall pick, the last of the first round. Foster explained that while the Saints were talking to his girlfriend on the phone, he got another call.

San Francisco 49ers take Chicago's pick, deliver cold Twitter shot

It hasn’t been a good few years to be a San Francisco 49er fan. The 49ers held the No. 2 pick, but swapped it to Chicago for the No. 3 pick, plus the third- and fourth-round picks this year, plus a third-round pick next year. The Bears used that pick to select North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, and the 49ers used the next pick to grab Stanford’s Solomon Thomas.

Jim Harbaugh And Chip Kelly Go To Bat For Colin Kaepernick

NFL free agency began three weeks ago, and Colin Kaepernick is still a man without a team, even in a league in which Mike Glennon just got $19 million guaranteed to actually start for someone. Is Kaepernick being blackballed because of his national anthem protest? It he still unsigned because of his lack of ability?…

Just What Are The 49ers Doing?

It’s fair to say no one foresaw John Lynch as the 49ers’ general manager, because, up until a week ago, the Niners weren’t even considering him. After all, he’s a former player and current broadcaster with exactly zero experience in a front office. But let’s give Lynch some credit for perhaps knowing Jed York’s brain…

Chip Kelly Is Playing The Game

The NFL is lousy with head coaches who have been given multiple chances at running a team despite achieving little on-field success. A coach can fail, get fired, and still find himself patrolling a sideline within a year, and the best way to go about pulling off such a feat is to control one’s own narrative. This seems to be something that just-fired former 49ers head coach Chip Kelly understands.

Jed York Finally Ensures No Good Coach Will Work For Him Any Time Soon

It’s hard to believe that, not that long ago, the San Francisco 49ers were a good team with a good head coach. It’s been a disaster since owner Jed York shuffled off Jim Harbaugh in December of 2014, and yesterday’s dual firing of head coach Chip Kelly and general manager Trent Baalke has put the franchise near rock-bottom. I say “near” because as bad as things are now, there’s no reason to believe York can’t make them worse.

Report: Chip Kelly Has Been Fired

Adam Schefter reports the 49ers have dumped Chip Kelly after giving the former Eagles and Oregon head coach less than a year on the job. San Francisco went 2-14 this season, showing little competence along the way. The dismissal comes hours after the team fired GM Trent Baalke, and throws an already-chaotic organization into even more disarray. Congratulations, northern Californians: you officially have your own Browns—just without the #1 overall draft pick.

Video Shows Former 49er Ray McDonald Threatening Ex-Fiancée And Child

In a video released Tuesday by her attorney, Kendra Scott can be heard asking former San Francisco 49ers defensive end Ray McDonald why he’s doing this and telling him to get away from her while she holds their infant son. Near the end, she screams “STOP, STOP!” at the top of her lungs as he chases her, before locking herself in the bathroom.
