Raiders draft playmakers with 1st 2 picks in third round

Coach Jon Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock set out this offseason to make the Las Vegas Raiders offense more dynamic. After drafting the fastest player available in the first round with receiver Henry Ruggs, the Raiders spent their first two picks on day two of the NFL draft Friday night on playmakers Lynn Bowden Jr. and Bryan Edwards. The Raiders took former Kentucky slot receiver and quarterback Bowden 80th overall with their own pick and plan to make him a running back.

The Tennessee Titans used two of their first three selections in the NFL draft to help bolster one of the NFL’s most productive offenses with Ryan Tannehill at quarterback. Chiefs gamble on LB Willie Gay in second round, add T Niang

The Kansas City Chiefs spent the past few weeks conducting plenty of virtual chats with Willie Gay Jr. and those around him, drilling into a series of incidents that caused the Mississippi State linebacker to play just five games last season and enter the NFL draft with several red flags. Pitch and catch: Round 2 of NFL draft heavy on receivers

While only one quarterback, Oklahoma’s Jalen Hurts, was taken on the second day of the NFL draft Friday, the guys who haul in passes were everywhere. Starting with the top two selections on Day 2 – Clemson’s Tee Higgins to Cincinnati and Southern California’s Michael Pittman to Indianapolis – seven wideouts were drafted in the second round. Add that to the six who went in the opening session, and it set an NFL record through two rounds.
