I have always been interested in the uniform numbers that players wear. After all, everybody has a number — great player or special teams reserve. In fact, Broncos uniform numbers will be the focus of a new segment on my “Denver Broncos Sideline Stories” television show this fall. One of the

The offseason has once again flown by, and in just a few, short weeks, all 32 NFL teams will get back to work, and report for training camp in advance of the 2017 regular season. After a resurgent 12-4 campaign last year, the Oakland Raiders will look to build on that in 2017, but the trio of other teams

The Broncos have landed the NFL’s all-time leader in yards per carry for a bargain price tag. Jamaal Charles, who averaged 5.5 yards per during his nine years with the Chiefs, signed a one-year contract with Denver that has a base salary of $900,000, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. That’s not a penny more than the veteran minimum for a player entering his tenth season. “It’s not about money,” Charles said during a conference call after the team announced his signing. If he shows up to the team’s offseason program (he plans to) and dresses for every game, Charles could earn considerably more. Charles’ contract includes a $100,000 workout bonus, according to Klis, which would bring his salary

Jerry is really personable. I mean, you’ve got to like Jerry Jones. If you’re around him, you’ve got to like him, unless you hate the Dallas Cowboys, which some people do. But as a person, he’s likeable. He’s fun to be around. His whole family is working with the team. They are a great family. I’m partial to family,…

So much for rumors about Paxton Lynch’s work ethic. The second-year quarterback has been the first one to meetings at the Broncos’ facility, an unnamed player recently told KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. While that doesn’t guarantee success on the field, it is a good sign that Lynch has been putting in the time to improve this offseason. Lynch, who worked out with a quarterback guru in Florida this offseason, has noted he’s going to “be in the building” as much as possible this summer. Lynch, 23, was selected by Denver 26th overall out of Memphis in last year’s draft. He appeared in three games as a rookie, going 1-1 in two starts and throwing for 497 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. This

There are a great many topics on which one might seek the wisdom of former Hall-of-Fame quarterback and current Broncos GM John Elway. For instance: how to throw a football real far, or how to avoid paying a shit-ton of money to a bad QB just because he can throw a football real far.

Broncos defensive end DeMarcus Ware is retiring from the NFL after 12 seasons, nine Pro Bowl appearances, and 138.5 sacks. He announced the move this afternoon, citing concerns over his long-term health. Ware played nine seasons for the Cowboys and finished up his career with three more seasons in Denver. He only…

Tony Romo, despite missing all but four games to injury over the last two seasons, is probably the most in-demand quarterback on the market. The Broncos are probably the best overall team with a massive hole at quarterback, and the motivation to quickly plug in an effective veteran. So, Romo-to-Denver would appear to…

Offensive tackle Russell Okung, who signed with the Broncos last offseason, is now a free agent. This is unsurprising, because despite the fact that Okung had a five-year “contract” with the Broncos that was “worth” $53 million, the Broncos faced no financial penalties for cutting him.

Brock Olivo, a former running back who played four seasons for the Detroit Lions, is the new Denver Broncos’ special teams coach. He was formally introduced Wednesday, and he somehow achieves a vibe that is simultaneously chill and intense.

Now that Peyton Manning, the ad pitchman and NFL quarterback, has retired from one of his two day jobs, it’s natural to wonder what comes next. He’s still making a string of commercials, but he hasn’t made much visible progress toward finding new football-based employment. Jay Glazer reported earlier this month that…

The Denver Broncos named Vance Joseph as their new head coach last week, returning him to the state where he started out his coaching career with the University of Colorado Boulder—and abruptly left under unexplained circumstances.

There’s never a great way for a defending champion’s playoff hopes to die, but for the Denver Broncos, a 33-10 beatdown at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs, who controlled the game from start to finish and were stunting late in the fourth quarter, is about as bad as it gets.

Sound the beef alarm! Because we’ve got some quality, long-simmering, slow-roasting beef in the Denver locker room after their 16-3 loss to New England, which likely put to bed any playoff hopes for the defending champion Broncos. There’s no shame in losing to a team as good as New England, but this game went as so many have for the Broncos this year: excellent defense, anemic offense. And the defensive players can only take so much of it.
