UConn's Women's Basketball Still Hasn't Lost A Game Since 2014

We need a word that multiplies the impact of the word “juggernaut” to describe the UConn women’s basketball team. Last night, the Huskies won their 87th consecutive game with a 87-81 win over fourth-ranked Maryland. That puts the team only three wins away from breaking their previous win streak record of 90 games between 2008 and 2010, teams led by Maya Moore.

Are You Ready To Hate Lane Kiffin Again?

There’s a good chance that you haven’t spent much time thinking about Lane Kiffin over the last three years, during which he had been serving as Alabama’s offensive coordinator. Not that the OC job at Alabama is particularly low profile, it’s just hard to get noticed when Nick Saban and scores of All-Americans are on campus every day. But if you’ve missed having Kiffin in the news, if only because it feels good to hiss, “Fuck that guy!” every time you hear his name or catch sight of him, I’ve got good news for you. Lane fucking Kiffin is back.

Dillon Brooks Nails Second Coolest Three-Pointer Of His Career

Through 14 games, Oregon forward Dillon Brooks has taken a step to the side or backwards in nearly all major offensive categories—his long ball is hitting just 30 percent of the time. Still, as he has throughout his career, the third-year player from Ontario has focused on basketball’s fundamental tasks, like pissing off Coach K and draining nasty buzzer-beaters, and it’s working out for the 12-2 Ducks.

How Two Investigations Into Minnesota's Sexual-Assault Scandal Reached Two Very Different Conclusions

It was in the early morning hours after the Golden Gophers’ victory—in their September season opener, no less—that the student said she was sexually assaulted by multiple football players. She gave a statement to Minneapolis police a day later, going into detail about how she had sex with two guys and how more men then kept coming. She remembered people watching, the officer wrote in the report, “like they were waiting their turn.” She remembered yelling at them to stop sending people in, but they didn’t. Two men tried to force their penises into her mouth while a third had vaginal sex with her, according to the report. Another man, whom she thought might help her, instead forced her to to give him a blow job, she recalled.

Iowa Refuses To Shake Hands After North Dakota, Down By 11, Tries Buzzer-Beater

With the Hawkeyes up by 11 with three seconds to play, there was no question about who was going to win tonight’s game between Iowa and North Dakota. But North Dakota forward Drick Bernstine stole the ball and tried to beat the buzzer with a little jumper anyway, and Iowa coach Fran McCaffrey was not happy. So unhappy that he walked off the court immediately, and his players followed—leaving North Dakota hanging as they waited to shake hands.

Ex-UConn Soccer Player Sues School After Losing Scholarship Over Middle Finger

In 2014, then-UConn women’s soccer freshman Noriana Radwan flipped off the ESPNU camera in a fit of excitement after the Huskies won their conference championship. I don’t think it reveals too much bias to say the act was, however shocking (not that shocking), effectively harmless.

Get To Know Marcus Keene, 5-Foot-9 Scoring Wizard

The leading scorer in college basketball this season isn’t Lonzo Ball, Josh Jackson, or Ivan Rabb. He isn’t even 6-foot. Marcus Keene plays point guard for the Central Michigan Chippewas of the Mid-American Conference, and he has a legitimate chance to become the first 30-point-per-game scorer in college basketball in 20 years.
