Seahawks' Carson thankful injury vs. Cowboys wasn't serious

Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson is thankful getting alligator rolled by Dallas defensive tackle Trysten Hill at the end of a play two weeks ago didn’t end with him suffering a serious injury. Despite getting twisted awkwardly and suffering a sprained knee against the Cowboys, Carson was right back on the field last Sunday and had his best game of the season in Seattle’s win over Miami. Carson rushed for a season-best 80 yards and found the end zone twice, his first two rushing touchdowns of the season.

AP source: Bills-Titans, Broncos-Patriots rescheduled by NFL

The Bills-Titans game has been moved from Sunday to Tuesday night as long as Tennessee has no more positive tests for COVID-19 in the interim, a person with direct knowledge of the switch tells The Associated Press. The NFL also is rescheduling Sunday’s Broncos-Patriots game from Sunday to Monday night after New England had a smaller outbreak of COVID-19, the person said Thursday, speaking on condition of anonymity because the league and teams had not officially announced the changes. Three games now have been postponed due to the pandemic: Pittsburgh at Tennessee in Week 3 was moved to Oct. 25.

Tennessee was told players could not gather together for any in-person activities either at the club’s facility or elsewhere a day before several Titans worked out at a private school, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press on Thursday. The NFL closed both the Tennessee and Minnesota facilities Sept. 29 after eight positive test results for the Titans. There wasn’t language in the CBA or COVID protocols related to working out after being told not to or in case of an outbreak at a team’s facility.

Tennessee will not be returning to the team’s facility Wednesday after two more players tested positive amid the NFL’s first COVID-19 outbreak, and the New England Patriots have canceled practice amid reports that a third player has tested positive for the coronavirus. Sports Illustrated reported that reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore tested positive for the virus on Wednesday and was added to the team’s reserve/COVID-19 list. The Patriots did not give a reason for Wednesday’s cancellation and did not immediately respond when asked if it was related to a third positive test.
