About the only thing left to determine for the San Francisco 49ers will be if 2016 will go down as the worst season ever in franchise history. After losing their franchise-record 13th straight game on Sunday in Atlanta, the Niners (1-13) must win their final two games to avoid matching, or breaking, the team record for losses in a season. San Francisco can tie the single-season loss record reached in 1978, 1979 and 2004 by losing at the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday.

A torn finger ligament could keep Browns wide receiver Terrelle Pryor out of Cleveland’s final two games. Pryor was hurt in Sunday’s 33-13 loss to the Bills, dropping the Browns (0-14) to within two losses of becoming the second 0-16 team in NFL history. Coach Hue Jackson said Monday that Pryor’s ability to play through pain will determine whether he’ll be on the field for Saturday’s home game against San Diego.

Why Does Triathlon Have Such A Clean Image?

It is almost impossible to believe that cycling, track and field, and swimming aren’t rife with doping. A large swath of top cyclists have tested positive for PEDs or admitted doping; track and field had state-sponsored doping programs in Eastern Germany, China, and Russia, along with hundreds of other athletes testing positive for PEDs; swimming has had fewer widespread doping scandals, but dozens of swimmers have tested positive for PEDs, and the doping suspension and reinstatement of Yulia Efimova, and the doping accusations leveled at Katinka Hosszu, were huge stories at the Olympics.

The Arsenaling Of Arsenal's Season Has Begun

“It’s a horrible week,” Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger admitted after losing to a short-handed and off-form Manchester City team on Sunday—this just a few days after losing to an off-form Everton team in similarly depressing fashion. As expected, this season that looked like it might be The One is beginning to reveal itself to be just like all the others.

Coach Dan Quinn appreciates how the Atlanta Falcons are positioned atop the NFC South, holding a one-game lead over Tampa Bay with two games left in the regular season. Now if the Falcons could just stop getting key players hurt, but Quinn is hardly despondent. ”I know we’re judged by what happens on Sundays, but honestly I thought the game from yesterday was won during the week,” Quinn said Monday.

Nerlens Noel And The Sixers Are Reaching A Breaking Point

Before the Sixers’ season even started, Nerlens Noel understood that there were too many large dudes in Philly and too few good ideas about what to do with them. But because Noel has been recovering from knee surgery, it was only last Friday that the Sixers had to confront this nauseating truth head-on, as they finally played their trio of true centers in the same game. The initial results were bleak. Joel Embiid, maybe the most promising of the bunch, got awkwardly shifted to power forward to make room for Jahlil Okafor, and Noel played an uneventful eight minutes, letting let some of his dissatisfaction spill out into public view: “I mean, I’m too good to be playing eight minutes … that’s crazy, that’s crazy, that’s crazy. Need to figure that shit out. Fuck it,” he told reporters after a 100-89 loss to the Lakers.
